House Rules and clarifications

This is the topic for house rules and rule clarifications. I will add as they come up.

Dodge is Athletics: so if you spent creation points on dodge reallocate them and wipe dodge off the character sheet.

When posting a new thread and replying to an existing thread in which you want your character to perform a dice action under the Preview/Send buttons is a space that says die rolls. At the end of the body of your post list pout the actions that you wish to make in the order that you want to make them. Then in the die rolls area from the pull down menu select they type of die to roll, and in the box where it currently says 1 place your dice pool for the first action you would like to make. if you have another action you can press the small plus sign next to the number of dice you have selected and add another roll.
E.G.
Adam strolls into Marty's Cantina His normal pristine appearance is slightly disheveled by the intense noonday heat. He takes a quick look around that the patrons(he is actually looking to see if anyone in the room is packing heat Perception+firearms). "Hello Martin, my usual please."
{Martin hands Adam a bottled water glistening with condensation}
Adam takes a drink "Any new interesting people in port?" (Charisma+Investigation)

At this point i go to the die rolls section and select d10 and the number of dice to roll and since i have 2 actions i hit the little + and select d10 again and the # of dice My dice action results will post immediately after my post and everyone will be able to see my results.

As you can see my first die action netted 2 successes with the 1 taking away the 10, therefor i have a pretty good idea whether anyone in the Cantina is Packing Heat. You may also notice that i did quite a bit better with four successes. If martin has no reason to oppose the investigation roll i will then give 4 successes worth of information or if martin does not want to tell i will roll for martin and subtract his successes from Adam's and give Adam that value of information.

How did you get the "#1" and "#2" before the rolls. Could you add an extra field to the dice roll option so we and preface them or actually type the die formula (i.e.:Charisma+etiquette) to streamline things. or whatever. And will you give us results or do you just want us to wing it, be our own storytellers, or a combination of both. (may have answered my own question.)

The 1&2 before the rolls are automatically put in by the forum whenever you make more than one dice action per post.
There is no way to streamline dice rolling more than what it is right now, unfortunately. I will be giving results for most rolls. where pertinent you may use dice rolls to embellish character actions without my response e.g. I'm jumping on to the table and singing, would not require my input to determine success.

I have hit a brick wall with the settings that are supposed to let me view pm's so until i get that figured out if you all would forward any pm's to me via pm or email.

Are average target numbers 6 (as in old white wolf), or 7 (abberent/exalted)?

Six, ones take away, tens are a normal success.

Can we be in only one topic at a time... for instance. I was in the cantina introducing myself, but then no one replied for like two days. Durring that time I would have liked to get working on something else. Can you only be in one topic at a time, or are we being a little fast and loose with the time and co-location rules?

Jason, I am having difficulty with staying signed in. If I want to post a comment, it says I need to sign in. Cool. I do so and it allows me to post. If i then navigate away from the topic I am automatically signed out. Thusly, if I am signed out I cannot get to the chantry as only members can even see it. I'm letting you know just in case you have made changes on your end. If not, I am posting from work most of the time so there may be a firewall issue or something. Let me know if you find anything.

Actually I just tried to post this, and it didn't let me the first couple times.

At this point it could take a few days for my npc's to respond as things are kinda crazy right now with engraving class and prep for my visit to colorado. when i get back i will start a new walgrens project for Prism that will have me working from 12:30 to 9pm M-F so i should have mornings to keep up with the forum and stuff. There can be more than one active post at a time but they should either be different groups or conversations that are not time spisific or you want to happen at some time later or "downtime" stuff, i hope that helps. also try logging in when you first get to the site before you click on any of the forums and click the keep me signed in box that may help.

You're right. If you don't succeed on your next 999 dice pool roll you can totally blame it on me.

A beginning mage needs one focus for every Sphere she knows. After she reaches Arete 2, she no longer needs to use a focus for one of her Spheres, usually the first one she learned--her "affinity Sphere" (see Chapter Nine). Every level of Arete after that allows her to transcend one more focus for one more Sphere. By the time she reaches Arete 10, she no longer needs foci at all.
While a magician may no longer need a particular focus for a given Sphere, it may still be necessary if she uses it for others. If Elizabeth, a member of the Order of Hermes, uses a burning candle as her focus for both Spirit and Life magick, she could, at Arete 2, discard that candle when working Spirit magic. She must, however, still use the candle for her Life magick.
Foci can still be useful, even when unnecessary. A magician who uses a focus she doesn't need will find that it still helps her concentrate. The Storyteller should reduce the magick difficulty by -1 for all magick performed with that focus for Spheres that no longer require it.


(These are currently the rules on foci that i am going to use, i will keep this ruling as long as i do not get a drop in described magic. Keep in mind you must choose what sphere you do not require a focus for, please note it on your character sheet. If its not on your sheet so that i can see it it does not exist.
